Herbs of Malaysia

Highlights:

Herbs are indeed “nature’s gift to mankind” and have had fascinating uses since the dawn of history. Events such as the spice wars in the Malay Archipelago attest to their importance. In our time, there is a strong interest in herbs in the search for “natural” and alternative medicines, and cures for diseases such as AIDS.
Herbs of Malaysia presents an introduction to 100 common herbs of the country. The book defines herbs in the context of its uses and gives a brief historical background, notes on the development of modern drug technology, and an account of edible herbs and essential oils. The notes include over 200 full colour photographs. The uses of these herbs in traditional medicine in Malaysia and neighbouring countries – as well as in ‘ulam’ (salads), food flavouring, aromatherapy and fragrances – are described. The main chemical constituents of the herbs and notes on their nutritional value are provided where known.

Herbs that Heal Natural Remedies For Good Health

Highlights:

The book covers 107 herbs and their medical uses in the treatment of diseases. It is divided into two parts- the first describes, in detail, 66 important herbs with strong healing powers and curative properties and the second describes, in brief, 41 herbs with comparatively milder properties. In each part herbs have been arranged alphabetically, according to their English names, as well as by trade names, where they are more popular by the trade name. While there are numerous books on herbs, the distinctive feature of this book is its reasonably comprehensive information about herbs, especially their uses in the treatment of various diseases.

Herbs Useful in Dermatological Therapy

Highlights:

Herbs (Useful in Dermatological Therapy) has been designed to enlighten the scientists and physicians with the treasure that is contained in the Mother Nature, its flora and fauna. In the present day medical world, people have forgotten their rich herbal heritage. With the rising interest in herbs all over the world, the book concentrates on managing dermatologic problems with herbs-how to identify, prepare, and use them. These herbs are readily available for the treatment of people even in the remote areas. Our earlier book Traditional Indian Dermatology (Concepts of Past and Present) provided the basic knowledge, and the present book details the information on the use of that knowledge. Another publication, Skin Irritant and Sensitizing Plants, will help in isolating the useful herbs from the harmful plants.
